Cancellation & Release Policies

Cancellation Policy

Refunds will be issued by e-transfer, or through Sportzsoft back to the Credit Card used to process the initial payment. Credit Card payments will take several business days to be posted to your bank account; the length of time varies by the individual banking institution.
A paid registration fee shall be fully refunded in the event the PRMLA is unable to provide "the opportunity to play lacrosse at the appropriate age level". No administrative fee will be withheld in this case.
A paid registration fee shall be partially refunded, less the $60 administrative fee, in the event that the player is cut from their corresponding Field or Box age group. Depending upon availability, Box players will first be offered the opportunity to play house league.
Refunds for medical reasons must be accompanied by a Doctor's note and will be assessed on an individual basis. There will be no refund for registrations due to medical reasons that occur after May 1st, with the exception of extenuating circumstance which must be presented to and approved by the PRMLA Executive Board.
There will be no refund for a registration fee if a player is suspended or expelled from the PRMLA because of Governing Body (PRMLA, Zone 9, OLA, OMFLL, or OWFL) discipline policy, or code of conduct rules.
Cancellations will be given out as follows:
  • Up to March 31: Full amount less the $60 administration fee; when you register, the system automatically sends payment to the OLA for a number of standard player expenses including insurance & these fees cannot be recovered by our association. In order to ensure that we are not losing money for our programming, the association will not be absorbing these costs. We appreciate your understanding.
  • April 1 to May 1: 50% refund (includes the $60 administration fee)
  • After May 1: No refund available.

Release Policy

      OLA RELEASE PROCEDURES

*NOTE: All balances must be paid before a release request can be made, including registration fees.*

       RELEASES

  • The Pelham Raiders Minor Lacrosse Association has a commitment to the growth and development of the game of lacrosse. The Association has a ‘no release’ policy for players residing within the Pelham Raiders Minor Lacrosse Association boundaries. However, in special circumstances as determined by the PRMLA executive, a release may be granted as long as it abides with the OLA and PRMLA Constitution.

        Please note:

  • When a release is granted the caliber of the player shall not enter the decision (MR3.06).
  • Release requests cannot be submitted prior to February 1st (Field Lacrosse) and March 1st (Box Lacrosse) of the current season (MR3.01)
  • Release requests cannot be submitted after March 1st (Field) and April 15th (Box) of the current season (MR3.01).
  • The player requesting the release must be registered with the PRMLA prior to requesting the release and OLA approved for the current season prior to any participation (MR3.01).
  • A player will be eligible for one rep release per playing season, per sector (MR3.01).

HOW DO YOU APPLY FOR A RELEASE?

  • The Player must first be registered (including payment) with the Pelham Raiders Lacrosse Association. The Player or Parent/Guardian must complete section 1 of the Ontario Lacrosse Association (OLA) Release Request Form and deliver it to the PRMLA President, with a copy also being sent to the PRMLA Registrar. Find the Field Release Form by Clicking Here . The box release form will not be available until March 1st.

        NEXT STEPS:

  • Per OR10.2 of the Ontario Lacrosse Association 2025 Rules and Regulations:
  • PRMLA will respond to any release request within 3 business days to acknowledge receipt of the OLA Release Request Form and notify the player/guardian of the date & time of the release hearing.
  • Release hearings must occur within 10 business days of the PRMLA receiving the request from the Applicant.
  • All related parties will be invited to attend the hearing.
  • The hearing will be heard by a minimum of 3 people, one of whom will act as the Chair.
  • Within 5 business days of the conclusion of the hearing, all parties shall receive a written decision.

If the release is denied by the PRMLA:

  • You can submit a written appeal of your Club Level Release decision to the OLA Level 1 Appeal: Merit Review, which has a $100 appeal fee. Submissions must be sent to casemanager@ontariolacrosse.com. If the OLA determines the request has no merit, this decision is not appealable and the player will return to their centre. If the OLA determines that there is merit, then the appeal can proceed to level 2.
  • The OLA Level 2: Appeals Board has a $300 appeal fee. Each party will be invited to attend a review hearing and will be given an opportunity to present their cases. The case will be reviewed by the OLA and a decision will be made in writing within 5 business days.
  • If the request is again denied, the player can either request a refund or continue to play with the PRMLA and try to resolve the differences that led to the request for a release.

If the release is granted at any point:

  • A refund will be given via e-transfer or cheque less the $100 Release Fee. The player must then re-register with the next closest club and deliver the signed two-page release form to the registrar of his/her new club as proof of release. The new club's registrar will record a comment in the online registration system indicating that confirmation of the release was received so that the Zone 9 registrar is aware.
